How the feed, the reader, and the shortcuts work.
Adding accounts
Open Accounts and choose Add Account. Pick Mastodon or Bluesky, then sign in.
For Mastodon, enter the instance hostname (the part after the @, such as mastodon.social). For Bluesky, enter the handle, such as example.bsky.social. The app talks to that server directly. I never see the password.
Home is on for a new account. Everything else starts off, and you turn on only the timelines you want in the feed:
- Mastodon: Local, Federated, and any lists on that account.
- Bluesky: your lists, plus feeds.
Uncheck an account to leave it signed in but out of the feed. Delete removes it. If a sign-in expires, the feed shows a prompt and Accounts offers Sign in again.
Filters
The Filters button on the feed (and the Filters section in Settings on Mac) sets a minimum before a link appears:
- Min likes
- Min reposts
- Min appearances — how many posts in your accounts shared that same link
Zero means no minimum. A link has to clear every minimum you set.
The All / Unread control at the top of the list hides links you have already opened. Search (⌘+F on a hardware keyboard) matches the visible list.
Settings
Reading. Open links in default browser sends a tap on a link card to Safari or your Mac browser instead of the built-in reader. Background is Sepia or White. Type is Sans or Serif. Those last two apply to Reader mode.
Refresh. On Mac, auto-refresh can be every 5 minutes, every 15 minutes, every hour, or manual only. Keep scroll position when refreshing leaves you where you were instead of jumping to the newest link. You can also pull to refresh, or use the refresh button.
Read Later export. Choose one service — linkding, Pinboard, Instapaper, Readwise Reader, or Marked Share — and new bookmarks are sent there. Marked Share connects in the browser. The others take the credentials that service asks for.

The list
Each row is one link, even when several posts shared it. The counts under the card are likes, reposts, and how many times it was seen.
Tap the link card to open it. By default that is the built-in reader. With Open links in default browser on, it opens in the browser instead. Opening a link marks it read.
Tap the person’s picture or name at the top of the row, or the posts count at the bottom, to expand every post that shared the link. The collapsed row can bookmark, share the URL, or jump to the original post. The expanded posts add Like and Repost for that specific post, plus a share of the post text and the link. Like and repost use the account that fetched the post. A liked post stays marked.
Long post text has a more / less control. If the post is in another language, a translate button can show an on-device translation.
Keyboard shortcuts
On Mac, and on iPad with a hardware keyboard, the list and the reader take the same keys. Full screen is Mac only. Shortcuts apply when that part of the window is focused: the list for moving and opening, the reader for page keys.

On iPad in landscape, the list and the reader sit side by side. On iPhone, opening a link pushes the reader onto its own screen.
Reader mode
With a page open, Show Reader extracts the article and drops the rest of the site. Hide Reader puts the original page back. The button appears when the page looks like an article. If there is nothing to extract, the reader says so and stays on the page.
Sepia or white, and sans or serif, come from Settings → Reading. Zoom, back, forward, reload, and share stay available in the reader bar.
Ask about a document
Ask About Article (the sparkles button, or ⇧+⌘+A) is there when the device has Apple Intelligence and the open page is an article, or Reader mode is already on.
It opens a sheet with the article title and a short summary as soon as it can write one. A field at the bottom takes the next question. Return sends it. Later questions can refer to the article and to earlier answers in that sheet. Closing the sheet forgets the conversation. Opening Ask again starts a new summary. The page itself does not change, and Reader mode is not turned on for you.
The model only sees the article text, clipped so it fits on device. There is no cloud model and no API key. If the answer is not in the article, it should say so. If Apple Intelligence is off, the button is hidden.
Share, repost, and like
Share on a collapsed row sends the link. Share on an expanded post sends that post’s text and the link. The reader bar shares whatever page is open.
Repost and Like are on each expanded post, not on the link as a whole. Repost boosts or reposts that status from the account that fetched it. A confirmation appears in the feed. If it fails, the error is shown there instead of failing quietly. Like toggles, and a post you have liked stays marked.
The bookmark marks the link for Read Later. If a Read Later service is connected, a new bookmark is also sent there.
